Chinese Acupuncture

Acupuncture has been a complete system of treatment for at least 2,000 years. At this time, a book called 'The Yellow Emperor's Classic of Internal Medicine' was written. The contents from this book is still used by practitioners all over the world today. Over the past 2000 years acupuncture has continued to evolve and develop ... that it has survived for this long, is a convincing tribute to its effectiveness.

Acupuncture treatment is carried out by inserting a few fine needles into strategic points on the body. The effect of the needles is to restore the balance of the patients' energy and thereby improving their health. This practice has been used in China for over 2000 years. However, over a period of time, a highly sophisticated form of medicine had evolved in China which incorporated this procedure, together with moxibustion (burning a piece of dried herb over a point), herbal medicine, massage and dietary regulation.  Acupuncture treatment addresses both specific symptoms and has an overall effect whereby patients often 'feel better in themselves'. The burning question is 'does acupuncture work?'. Many experts claim that the treatment of acupuncture does have some beneficial effect on patients, they claim that many people who have already had treatment, have experienced that it is a beneficial treatment and research confirms this to be true (Churchill Hospital in Oxford 1986).  In Chinese Traditional Medicine it is the dualistic principal of the perfect harmony between yin and yang that is fundamental and a necessary part of creation, of being and of ideal health.
